I found an entry in Coldingham for one of my lot for 1821.
The entry gives name of child, both parents and dates etc which is fine.
However, it says the child was already baptised in St Andrews Parish, Edinburgh and gives the clergyman's name of that Parish.
Why would it then be recorded in Coldingham also if the baptism had already taken place in St Andrews, Edinburgh? Any thoughts or reasons for this? Thank you in advance.

Re: OPR 1821 Baptism
Hello Andy,
It sounds to me as if Coldingham was their home parish, but that the child was born and baptized in Edinburgh where the parents probably were currently living. I found another case in 1810 and 1812 where children born and baptized in Rio de Janeiro were mentioned in the OPRs of their father's parish of Logie Buchan, Aberdeenshire: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=8178
All the best,
Sarah

Hi Andy
Another possible reason is that the Edinburgh baptism was in the Established Church of Scotland, while the Coldingham baptism was in a secession church.
