Trying to find out more about the Hamilton family John hamilton m Jane Sandilands 1791 Edinburgh they had 9 children all born in Cranston
Jean 1792 Isabel 1795 Mary 1797 John 1799 William 1802 Hannah 1803 francies 1805 David 1808 and James 1811.
I am looking for more on John Hamilton senior he was my 4x grandfather
Any ideas would be great

Although the marriage registry doesn't go that far back, there is an OPR on ScotlandsPeople for a marriage of John Hamilton & Jane Sandilands on Feb. 13, 1791. Hopefully, there might be something that would help you go further, although the OPRs don't give the same level of information found in the registries.

There are 3 Jane Sandilands born/baptised 1760-1780. You might be able to narrow down the 27 John Hamiltons born 1768-74 by location.

SP also has matching year baptism/birth records for at least Jean, Is*, Mary, John, David.

Thanks Frances They married after an irregular marriage.I think jean Sandilands may have been born in pencaitland and I have her parents not been able to prove it at this point.But cant seem to get John never mind thank you for your time Regards Kate
