I wonder if anyone out there can help me.
I have 2 robert leckie's baptised in Gargunnock to the same parents I am wondering if this is the same child or did the first one die.
parents are william leckie and janet brown
births were 1783 and 1786
fr221 and fr227

Most probably "recycling" of the name after the death of the first child of the name, infant mortality rates back then being high. In many families, the name was reused until the infant of that name survived to teenage years. And there's an outside chance that this could be an instance where the traditional naming pattern was very strictly observed, where both the paternal grandparents were named Robert, leading to two kids of that name; but this is very much the low probability situation.
