I am stuck on my paternal line.I very recently searched on the new O.P.R records on SP and discovered the following:
Falkland,Fife 6 June 1809 Married in this parish Thomas Muir,Strathmiglo and Christiana Storrar, parishioner.
Then I discovered for Kettle parish marriage O.P.R dated 4 Nov 1810
Moor and Storrier. Were contracted Thomas Moor in this parish and Christian Storrier in this parish were married.
Surely this is the same couple,as i have seen the microfische for Kettle births and found 10 births with this same Moor/Muir spelling configuration but all at the same address,Orkie mill,Kettle.
The dates are too far apart to be banns?
If anyone has any answers I would be very grateful
cheers Scott.
A problem of two marriage dates?.....

Hi Scott
..and a belated warm welcome to Talking Scot
This is an odd one. IGI has:
THOMAS MUIR
Spouse: CHRISTIANA STORRAR
Marriage: 06 JUN 1809 Falkland, Fife, Scotland
THOMAS MOOR
Spouse: CHRISTIAN STORRIER
Marriage: 04 NOV 1810 Kettle, Fife, Scotland
- both extacts and as you have found on SP.
The odd thing is, going by the wording you have found, that there appears to be no reference to Kettle for the first marriage:
The Kettle one, however:
Based on the info you have given, and the gap between the two events, I'd be tempted to think they are two couples. But I think further investigation would be needed - e.g. did the Falkland/Strathmiglo couple have any children?
Best wishes
Lesley

It looks like Thomas is from Strathmiglo and Christiana from Falkland.Falkland,Fife 6 June 1809 Married in this parish Thomas Muir,Strathmiglo and Christiana Storrar, parishioner
The Kettle one, however:
suggests both parties were living in Kettle.Moor and Storrier. Were contracted Thomas Moor in this parish and Christian Storrier in this parish were married.

Hi Scott,
I had a similar problem a while ago, and only managed to split them out into two different families when one set moved to another census area! Instead of one couple with five kids, I got it down to two couples, one with one child and the other four children belonging to couple two.
It later transpired that the two grooms were cousins, as were the two brides!

Hi Scott
We have one where the Banns were called in Edinburgh but the Marriage actually took place in Penninghame (now Newton Stewart) Both were actually living in Edinburgh when the Banns were called but it was some time later that they married and, from the Penninghame OPR thay had to produce some form of evidence that their Banns had, indeed, been called elsewhere. The date of the actual marriage was recorded in the Registers for both parishes but only the St Cuthberts Register showed the dates the Banns were called.
We still don't know why there was a dramatic change in venue but presume his gamekeeper job took him to an estate in the area.
