Was there a place called Kintullo?.....

Post by Dennis » Mon Feb 19, 2007 2:03 am

Hi:)

I'm looking at the Dec. 21, 1766 OPR for Dilly Lennox, daughter of Laurence Lennox & ?
The header is shown as Dunbarney, on the record I'm pretty sure it is written Kintullo ( wherever that was ). There are 3 listings on the page that refer to Kintullo.
I didn't upload the image as I'm pretty sure that for once I got the name right:)

I just uploaded the 1780 baptismal record for Dilly's youngest sibling Jean. Now I am actually unsure of what the area on the entry for Laurence Lennox is.

Hi Dennis,

I found Kintillo just south of Bridge of Earn in Dunbarney parish.

http://www.nls.uk/maps/early/os_scotlan ... _list.html

Select sheet 48 - Perth.
Left of centre, near the bottom of this map, Dunbarney parish is coloured green.
You will find Kintillo under the right-end of the parish name.

All the best,

AndrewP

A bit off-topic but there is quite a good wee café in the village of Kintillo called "The Roost", if you ever find yourself there!

Best wishes
Lesley

Hi Dennis,

There is a book called Dunbarney: A Parish with a Past that I would recommend, by J.W. & R.E. Seath. On p.83 there is a mention in 1865 of a Mrs Ann Lennox (widow) who ran a sewing school in Kintillo - possibly related somehow, as Kintillo is little more than a few houses.
