Hi Fran
Here are some of the Dunfermline films which may hold something of interest for you. Even if you don't find the marriage, a child's birth may tell you what John did for a living and the area where they lived.

Dunfermline is a large Parish, as you can probably tell from the number of films, probably the largest Parish population-wise in Fife. The Parish takes in not only the city of Dunfermline but a large amount of rural area surrounding the city in all directions, covering many small towns and villages including Limekilns and Charlestown. It can take a long time to wade through the films - I speak from experience with many days spent with my head in Dunfermline! But, looking on the bright side, at least there is plenty of material including a great many deaths - who knows what you might find?
Best wishes

Hi Fran
Just a thought..
If you are ordering films from your local LDS centre I'd be inclined to check on their web site that the films have the same numbers, so that you are sure to order the info you want to see. For some reason, which someone else may be able to explain, their numbers sometimes differ from the GROS reference numbers for some parishes.
Best wishes

Hi Lesley,
Thank you for your advice, I will take the numbers with me when I go to LDS.
I have found a birth on IGI and SP for a Margaret Ritchie, 5.2.1792 in Limekilns, Dunfermline. The family are in Charlestown in 1841 but I have Daughter Janet in 1861 in Glasgow and she gives her place of birth as Limekilns.
Would you assume this is my Margaret as daughter Janet was born in same place?
Most of my research is in England so still finding my way around Scotland!
Thanks for your help,
Fran

Hi Fran
Certainly looks like a reasonable possibility - Limekilns is not a large town - more like a village really.
I was just having a fiddle about on SP and came across the death of a Henry M*cIntyre born 1815 +/- 3years who died in Renfrew in 1893. He may, of course, have nothing to do with your family, but just thought it was worth mentioning....
