Hi Russell and Anne,
The fact that ye kin actually be "ordained" oan that site is a tad scary.
I signed up and got all the paraphernalia, for what I thought would be a laugh.
Badges, leaflets, cassock, etc. came through the post.
I kid you not!
It cost me close oan £100.
An’ ah dae know ther is wan born every minute.
But how much fun ah huv had oot o’ that, has made up furrit.
And it does turn out that, like Robbie Williams, (he’s a singer) I am legally able to perform marriages.
And Anne, ah wiz oanly getting’ it Oor Liz, oan here, who’ BOASTS that she is frae yon place wey aw the sheep, in the country.
Ok, ah know they huv’ “The Hungry Monk”.
But wid oany self respectin’ Weegie, travel frae the Metropolis o’ Glesga through the Apache territory o’ Bawrheid, tae dine ther?
(Mind you, the grub and service is first rate)
When ye kin get the same meal in the Hungry Monk, in ma ain Faimilies patch in Gartocharn?
Aw that aside Anne, An eight piece cap is a hard item tae find.

Still lookin’ efter ma Flock oan here
Yer Pastor.

When I read Marilyn's posts from Rhode Island, I conjure up visions of the rich and famous and the America's cup. Stewie I don't need to think of 'cos used to live there but Fremantle also means Americas cup.

Hi Wini,

How I laughed when I read your comments. You're talking about Newport, Rhode Island the home of the American Cup. My husband & I plus thousands of others would all call in sick and dash off to Newport to catch a glimpse of history being made. We couldn't see them race, because they were sailing miles off shore in Block Island Sound, but we sure were part of the festivities afterward, until 1983 and that all changed when "Australia" borrowed our cup...

For centuries Newport has been a playground for the rich and famous. Gloria Vanderbilt still owns the top floor of her family's mansion. Claus Von Bulow owned a home on Bellevue Avenue, until he tried to murder his wife, Sunny Von Bulow and her children kicked him to the curve. Plus the city spills over with millionaires, from all over the world, all summer long. I live 30 miles north, far away from their world, but I do visit on occassion and pretend....

Its been 23 years since John Bertrand sailed the Australia 11 winning the race 4-3, against Dennis Conner and the word around Newport, is they've become good friends and are working on restoring the Australia. They ran up against a problem re-working the hull of the boat. Wait let me post a picture, so you'll get a better idea of what I'm talking about here.

Well Davie, I’m glad you’ve had fun with your new found profession…but just think of all the credits you could have bought from SP with that £100…breaks ma heart! Mind you, ah must say, you look like a convincing “man of the cloth”.

ADDING TO YOUR AVATAR

Thanks for that Marilyn,

It is just what I meant about Locations of members, I am unlikely to come and try and find you but I will think of a place when I read your posts. I AM NOT BUYING INTO AMERICA'S CUP discussions, but of course you may know Alan Bond the "owner" of "Australia" ended up doing a prison term for corporate fraud. As is usual with those people his money was salted away elsewhere so he doesn't seem to be any the poorer.

Davie does you bunnet have a RED TOORIE on it?

I can understand it does help when answering queries to know where someone is, but some of our members may prefer to remain vague about their whereabouts for one reason or another, but sure, a vague idea of country or hemisphere would be helpful in many caes! It is certianly not compulsory to state where you come from or give any other personal details - although we are all friends here, I think we do have to remember that it is a very public forum with many visitors dropping in on a daily basis who are not members! Its a bit like trying to have a private party in the middle of a public street!

Agree, Lesley, well put. Obviously we get to "know" many of the regulars and even enjoy the odd beach party together but we have to remember the information is available to all.
