I have tried looking for William McKimmie on the Ellis Island site several times.I have used every permutation of the name, wildcards etc & Zilch.
I took advantage of the free Ancestry access(thanks for the heads-ups Tracey.)& I got two for the price of one!My Great-Uncle travelled with his cousin/2nd Cousin-haven't quite worked out which.
I also found my GGreat-Uncle(90% sure) after again searching on Ellis/Castle Garden but again to my delight& shock!!! Ancestry came up trumps!
I know it's a trawl through Ancestry but sometimes you find relations you didn't know you had by the choices they give you.
Researching:SCOTT,Taylor,Young,VEITCH LINLEY,MIDLOTHIAN
WADDELL,ROSS,TORRANCE,GOVAN/DALMUIR/Clackmanannshire
CARR/LEITCH-Scotland,Ireland(County Donegal)

ALSO BROWN,MCKIMMIE,MCDOWALL,FRASER.
Greer/Grier,Jenkins/Jankins

Joette i just found my gt grandmothers sister on Ancestry (after 3 years of looking mostly just for her) and she ended up in Marilyns part of the world :D The only thing that clinched this was her mothers address being on it and i know where she was in 1908.There is an entry on Ellis Island that i have had a feeling about but it didnt fit, various reason etc......... but now i know its more than likely it is them even with a slight fib on it.
So in short i am greatful for Ancestry putting this on for free.
Now where do i find out about Rhode Island genealogy........................ :-
Scotland - Donaldson / Moggach / Shaw / Geddes / Sim / Gray / Mackie / Richards / Joel / Coull / Mckimmie / Panton / McGregor
Ireland and Scotland - Casey / McDade / Phillips / McCandle / Dinely / Comaskey + various spellings
