Post by wini » Mon Jan 08, 2007 7:43 am

Same question as SHEILAJIM
Why??

I don't always click on the link because I don't have the time, but save the links. Is this a mistake? I am not like Mary and don't have many computer skills

Another string of those spam postings just appeared from a "new member". It seems only the two of us are online at this moment. Look out!

Sarah

I think the safest option is, If in doubt, Don't.

On here, if a link is on a posting, check when the poster joined before clicking on it.

Why do they do it? - Because they can! These folk compete with each other to do the best ones (that's their word not mine).

Well spotted Jack
Don't let these idiots spoil a good forum like ours
I'm sure it would be possible to have a probation system where posts by "new members" have to be approved by moderators before they appear on site.
This member should be removed PDQ

Hi Jim,
It was Sarah who quickly noticed it.
Yes, a probation system would certainly help.
Genuine folk, i'm sure, wouldn't mind.
And this "member" will be taken off very soon!

Thanks, Tracey!
I saw them somewhat after the time they were supposed to have been quarantined and sent my message immediately after that. But obviously something was happening since I didn't get a message that a reply had been posted to a topic I was following, as I should have in some of the cases if it had been a normal post (what a sentence ). I guess the quarantining had that effect? At least they're gone now!

Sarah
