Yes, no more twins in my line either, after William McCulloch and his twin Robert b 1755! (One at a time is quite enough 8) )

I'm in Totley... so meeting in town is probably a good idea. I teach at Hallam, at Collegiate Campus (Ecclesall Road) - PM me with any ideas! Also of course I'm nearly out into the Peak District, here - don't know if you do any nature-watching, walking, etc, but there is some great countryside and good pubs nearby.

I have to count these relationships on my fingers, every time :P

PS I just built a loft room and can see for miles and miles into the hills here! Almost like Scotland, home from home ...

Hi Jenny and Paula

I've been up in Manchester for the weekend visiting friends. :D

Just checking the forum, as usual, to see what's happening and see we may have a connection, Jenny.

Paula and I have already "connected".

Must away and have a look at the family tree and try and piece it together.

Best wishes
Jean

Hi Paula

Who is Susanna and Walter's gg grandson or ggg grandson? Is it George Gibb married to Helen Cunningham or Archibald Gibb married to Helen Cunningham or somebody else

Jenny

Did your Thomsons ever wander away from Linlithgow to Kirkliston or Uphall? I have Thomsons from there married to the above mentioned Cunninghams, who are married to Paula's Gibbs!!!

God it gets confusing :?

Best wishes
Jean

Hi Jean,
Don't know if the Thomsons went anywhere - or everywhere - but we certainly seem to have a connection whether directly or indirectly! (And I have kin from Kirkliston on the other side, though not Thomsons.. and Cunninghams in Edinburgh.)

I'll try to get my Thomson/Gilles/McCulloch/Fisher side into a narrative and post it here :)

In the meantime - I'm just in (was shopping at IKEA to furnish new loft space) and have now opened an ale to toast my 'new' relatives with - cheers! [cheers]

Hi Jean,

Its George (1786-1870) married to Helen Cunningham (1792-1855) I think :? . Its all very complicated but if you and I are related then you and Jenny must be at least by marriage  . I'll leave it to you two to sort out the connection

Hi Jenny,

Thanks for your pm - that sounds good to me. Have you a favourite place to meet? Maybe Jean fancies a day trip too??

Paula
Searching for Barclay Aberdeenshire, Stewart Edinburgh, Brown Edinburgh & Uphall, Finlayson E Lothian, Fairley & Renton E & W Lothian for starters!

That'd be good! There are heaps of places in Sheffield - let me know if you'd prefer coffee-house, cafe-restaurant, pub.. I'd guess that you'd be driving? I can either drive to somewhere around Ecclesall road, or get the bus into town.
