Re Ann McDonald born 5 April 1838

Hi Ian,
Always the possibility that the Ann MacDONALD born 1838 had died young,
and another child, again named Ann, was born about 1843 but not recorded.
Seems a bit on the doubtful side though.
No real foundation for saying that; it's just my own thoughts.
Mind Archibald was younger, and Ann may well have shaved a few years off....

So if Ann was born in 1838 then she could've married the fellow Simpson before 1855,
and as you know not all marriages are in the OPRs.
Or she could've married after 1855, but didn't get it "officially" registered.

It might be useful to positively identify Ann in the censuses 1841 to 1861, but not an easy task!

ps, thanks Andrew for getting Ann's details as MacDonald.

Hi Jack

I've found the birth of Ann Macdonald, as well as what looks like the births of an older sister and an older brother.

Haven't had a huge amount of success on the census records, but will keep looking :)
Currently researching: Henderson, Bennet, Brown, Callan, Carruthers, Chisholm, Crow, Gray, Grierson, McAlister, McDonald, Moffat, Morris, Morrison, Muir, Peck, Ross, Sharp, Taylor, Walker, White. And lots, lots more :)
