As someone who gets snowblindness just from looking at the underside of my arms, and who is therefore forced to wear long sleeved shirts even to bed, I can personally testify to the accuracy of this theory, and was wondering whether a colour or tonal chart chart would therefore be another useful tool for your exciting new research service?

:)

Chris
"Well known fact" it might be, but it's wrong, - see last week's New Scientist - http://www.newscientist.com/channel/bei ... -code.html .

But being a "weel kent fact" obviously does indeed qualify the characteristic for inclusion in Gene Detective Family Tracing Ltd's ©® info requirements list.

PS You must also have Scandinavians in your ancestry, as they are even more sensitive.

Just got back to this thread (the curse of working full time again  )
and noted the BBC reply to Chris
A Councillor was on hand to support the contributors
was this a County Councillor or City Councillor ?

I understand that we are now asking our local politicians to take on different roles but surely even this is going a little too far.

Hi all

to DavidWW
I noticed with interest your post (Posted: Wed Mar 14, 2007 3:19 pm)outlining the services offered by Gene Detective has been edited 4 times the final edit being (Last edited by DavidWW on Fri Mar 16, 2007 8:03 pm; edited 4 times in total) sadly I missed the 1st 3 postings. I have read all the posts that are available to be viewed by us the members.

To all
I have not seen the programme being discussed, but should I have the opportunity to see it I will. This is my choice.

As for the SOG endorsing the programme I didnt think so (but thats only my opinion), what they did was to provide the Location for the programme and to outline the programmes objective and method, (thats what I read having followed DavidWW`s link to the SOG)

Please remember we have choice, and we are all individuals. What might be a distasteful programme to you, may be a thoroughly entertaining programme to someone else. Obviously 3000 individuals thought it was entertaining and useful, as they have contacted Gene Detective for help.

Regards

Bryan

All the edits were minor grammatical and spelling matters, or very obviously related to suggested additions from other posters to the service in later posts in the thread, otherwise I'd had specified the subject of the edits.

I dont believe that any of my posts or those of Chris Paton and others suggested that others might not find the programme "entertaining" !, - that's very much a matter of personal choice.

I don't recall describing the programme as distasteful, just completely and utterly inaccurate in terms of suggesting that various so-called "experimental research techniques" were valid genealogical research techniques, - see my spoof "Gene Detective Family Tracing Ltd ©®" posts.

You appear to be under the impression I directed all of my post to you and you alone I did not. I did direct the 1st part of my post to you, which you kindly answered in your reply.

Hi Bryan,

My understanding is that the series has been recommissioned, so hopefully you'll be able to exercise your right to see it when it returns! :)

Chris
