Hi
My grandfather was also called after his uncle by marriage. His aunt married a sea captain by the name of John Wilson and he was named John Wilson McKenzie. Unfortunately if there had been any hope of an inheritance it disappeared because my 2xgreat aunt Elizabeth Shedden died and John Wilson remarried. There was a minor family grievance about a medal Capt. Wilson got for being involved in a sea rescue being given to the maritime museum in Ayrshire instead of being passed to my grandfather as had allegedly been promised!

Hello all
Be aware of the literate but lazy.
I have just spoken to a very nice bank clerk called Tertia - the third girl in the family. I just could not bring myself to ask if she had a sister - called Binary?
There are a few Quintus, Sextus and Septimus out there. It's what a Latin education does to the brain.

re naming patterns
Just a little jest to add to the discussion. My Granfather was the youngest of several sons. They had pretty much stuck to the "First son called after the Fathers Father" When my Uncle was born( especially as the couple were residing with the Parents) the eldest son my Grandfather was slow in naming, registering my Uncles birth.Grandpa told him that they were debating the name as their was a surplus of Johns.GGrandpa replied" Call him s----- bum for all I care just give the bairn a name" My Grandpa said in all his days he had never heard his Father "use Langauge".
They decided on the name Thomas as my Great-Uncle was killed in action WW1 without any children. Great-Grandpa was happy with the name & my Uncle is very relieved he didnt go through life with the name "s----y bum"
