Need help deciphering 1645 baptism.

Post by StewL » Fri Oct 05, 2007 8:39 am

Hello all you eagle eyed caligraphers.

I would appreciate deciphering the final entry on this lot of baptisms from 1645. Thomas Neilson son of William Neilson.

I will upload the image after posting this for approval.

Image has been cropped and re-scanned and awaiting approval.

Thanks all
Stewie

Hi Stew,
If all else fails there's a website www.island.net/~andreav/writing.htm which offers translation of 17th century Scots handwriting. The section concerning this is the one headed trans@e-transcriptum.net

Hi Stew,

My opinion is you should take Bervonian's advice, I was only able to make out the date

Bervonian, I'm going to borrow your link and post it as a "sticky" for future reference.
