Hi Marybeth,
A warm welcome to TalkingScot
You’ll find a lot of friendly enthusiasts here always ready and willing to guide you in the right direction to help you solve your puzzles.
I’m not seeing a marriage for Duncan or Kat at the moment. Have you tried looking for them on SP http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/ ? Can you give us an idea of where you’ve already searched…saves others from duplicating your searches? There is someone searching this family on www.familysearch.org . Have you seen it, or is that you?
In the meantime, if you haven’t already done so, we hope you’ll take a look at the TS PowerPoint Presentation (link at the top of the page) and the Essential Reading section viewforum.php?f=14 both of which will help you get the best out of TalkingScot.
Glad you joined us
Regards,
Anne H

Good Hunting Marybeth I've got McGregors too and I've found it quite hard to follow the sibling lines (without spending a fortune!) as there are so many people with the same name
Anyway you have come to the right place.

Re searching for McGregors
Hi to Anne H and Mallog,
Thank you for your replies , welcome and advice.
Anne, I did'nt know you could find who was searching for who on familysearch.org.
Yes I have looked for Kat and Duncan on there and found them with regards to the birth of their children. Also found them on the McGregor site. I have also had some contact with other McGregor decendants, but as for ScotlandsPeople, it's not possible for me to use it at this time.
I do have family records and census details for the son Duncan who married Henrietta Isabella Fergusson in Calandar 2 June 1821. They lived at Brig O Turk. My Husband is decended from their son Peter who emigrated to Australia with wife Mary McGibbon and daughter Catherine in 1861.
I have looked at TS PowerPoint as suggested and will follow up on the essential reading.
Thanks again,
marybeth

Take a look on Hugh Wallis’ site for extracts. I only had a quick look for the marriage but didn’t see it…maybe with perseverance you might get lucky. I did check for a couple of the children and the extracts are there, so that’s a good sign. I also noticed there were a few other McGregor/McGrigor and Clark couples…very possibly relatives, so it would be a good idea to check them out also.
Here’s the link for Hugh Wallis in case you don’t have it. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com ... #PageTitle
I checked my BIVRI discs (British Isles Vital Records Index) for the marriage and births, but didn’t come up with anything.
I also did a free check on SP for a marriage for McGregor/McGrigor/Clark but didn’t come up with anything close to the first child’s birth year. Maybe some kind family member will give you some vouchers for Scotland’s People as a Christmas gift then you can have a look. You might get lucky and one of the births might have a little snippet of extra information to give you a lead
Hope some of this helps.
Regards,
Anne H

Actually, I didn’t know . I was just wondering if it was you, and where the information for the submissions originated from. As far as I know, a submitter’s details only appear on an Ancestral file and that information may be out of date. I checked the Ancestral files but didn’t see anything for your McGregor/McGrigor’s.Anne, I didn’t know you could find who was searching for who on familysearch.org.
