Just received notice from Ancestry that the Perth Newspaper Index cards are now on line. 1809-1990 with a gap from 1890-1920. Many of these are modern, but I did find an 1869 obit for a Longmore which I need to check.
This may come up twice. When I tried to post it the first time, it vanished into thin air.

Hi Carol,
I was just about to post this also
For example, I just randomly looked up Robertson and found Dr Robertson being robbed in 1822

Great minds think alike!
What I find interesting is that if you were looking for an obit. for the years after the last census available-1901- and the death was after 1920, you can get it from these cards even if it happened in the 40's, 50's etc. The same for births, marriages, etc. Not that everyone is going to show up, but still...
Wish I had relatives from Perth!

Hi all
I note that the index cards for newspapers held by Cupar Library (Fife) are also now on Ancestry.
Best wishes
Lesley

I saw the blurb on Ancestry yesterday, but blowed if I can find it today...The Fifeshire collection, indexed by the Cupar Library in Fife, consists of more than 200,000 records taken from newspapers including the Dundee Courier and the Fife Herald News, dating from 1833 to 1987.
Best wishes

Lesley,
I didn't get a notice about Fife-Cupar but I saw them when I tried to go back to the Perth cards straight from Ancestry instead of from my email link. I'm not sure that the main website has caught up with the new announcements because when I went to the historical newspapers database earlier, Perth wasn't there! Wasn't sure when the Fife Cupar cards came on, thought maybe I was just a slow coach on that one so I didn't say anything about them!
Not the first time I've been lost in there!
