fasti?

Post by gjones » Sun Nov 25, 2007 5:53 am

Have seen the word 'fasti' around the forums, could someone please explain what it means?

Is it an abbreviated form of reference? If so,what/where does it cover/relate to?

Thanks in advance

Gill

I have not used it myself but doing a quick search on here I found the following Topic:

viewtopic.php?t=10328&highlight=fasti

Fasti Ecclesiae Scoticanae
Probably the best known source is the Fasti Ecclesiae Scoticanae, "The succession of Scottish ministers in the Church of Scotland from the Reformation", by the Rev. Hew Scott, D.D. 10 volumes. (Edinburgh: Oliver and Boyd, 1915-1981)
This work is arranged by synod and presbytery, and arranged by parish within each presbytery. It lists the succession of ministers from the middle of the sixteenth century until present day and records details of each minister's family, parentage and education. There is no overall index, but each volume is indexed by the name of the minister and by the name of the congregation.
