I went back and put in another dozen households, but always the same thing-- no matches. Although it's a very good idea, I suspect that for the moment that site is only really good for those with recent English ancestry, or am I wrong? I would be interested to hear from anyone who had found links through the 1880 US census. My English ancestors (and I have many!) all left England in the 17th century, so it would take quite a bit of research to track down relatives who were still in England in 1881 (or 1841 for that matter).
I hope others have better luck with the site!
