I'm stumped on how that site works too - the only search boxes I could find were for women's maiden name and you neeeded surname, birth year and at least 3 characters of the first name to start a search there even.
The newsletter they sent says there's 164,000 names in the ships database, but how to search that isn't apparent at all.
The newspapers thing is much more exciting - I've got the actual copy of the report on my gggg grandfather's fall down the coal mine now.
Cheers
Roger

Frances, freebies are always good news and there is bound to be someone here who hasnt heard of this site who will be less cynical of it
The confusion with this site is that there seems to be two parts to it - the free and the part you pay for ?. I remember last time they did this no one could work out the difference

Please don't feel bad because you were being thoughtful enough to let people know about a freebie. It was very kind of you to do that! Freebies are good!
I know it certainly made me go there and have another look around. I think it would be a great site if it wasn't so labour intensive! A lot of us have already typed up our family trees many times and to look for detailed enumeration districts on the censuses is a bit too much for me to do it justice. But it might also be just up someone else's alley. No harm done, actually quite the opposite!
