After posting and asking for help in reading a marriage certificate. I recieved a lot of help and great additional information not requested I thought I would ask for more help.
This time it is a death certificate for James Innes. I was told by relatives he died in a motor cycle accident in Musselborough but this was never confirmed. i hoped the Dc might throw some light on this but i cant read the cause of death. I have even tried researching old newspapers to see if it was recorded as i thought this might be an unusual event at the time.
Thanks for the help and keep up the excellent work in helping novices like me.

Hi
Andrew got it right first time
Heart disease - Usually as a result of Rheumatic heart disease as a teenager (except they didn't have teenagers in those days !)
Incompetence of the Mitral valve caused a back flow into the heart which eventually gave up.

mitral valve prolapse
It does look like "Heart disease, Mitral stenosis + incompetence". Mitral valve prolapse would be my guess. This was an awfully young man to dies of heart disease. Either he had a congenital heart defect or a genetic disorder that lead to high cholesterol and blockage of the arteries. Mitral valve prolapse can be present at birth (congenital) or develop later.
Those are my thoughts from my training as a geneticist and from having an 85-yr-old dad with heart valve problems that were caused in part by rheumatic fever he had as a teenager.
