Lost family: Callaghan/Carracher from Blantyre and Hamilton

Post by mcblondie » Wed Jun 11, 2008 11:35 am

Hi all,

Me again, hope this finds you all well :)

On my research trail again.... Seeing as I'm getting nowhere fast with my Lithuanian side I decided to concentrate more on my Scottish side and I though I'd look for my Grandmother's siblings. Much too my surprise I found my granny's youngest sibling, her sister Frances who was born in 1908c and I found her death cert on SP stating that she died in 2002 aged 94 :( If only I'd known this years ago I could have tried to see her and find out if she could fill in some blanks. :( Anyways, I'm now looking to see if anyone recognises the names and knows if any of Frances' children are still alive and maybe just maybe they may have some photos of my gran and/or grandad or some stories they could tell me.

Frances Callaghan was born in Blantyre to William and Ann Callaghan (nee Summers) I'm not sure if she married only the once, but the name given when she died is Carracher from Hamilton, Lanarkshire. My grandmother was Mary Callaghan married to John (Jonas) Polockus from Blantrye. If any of this jogs any memories please don't hesitate to contact me.

Thanking you all in advance.
Katie

Hello Katie,

Why not give Genes Reunited a try and see if anyone recognizes your names. I understand some people have had some success there.

Good luck! :)

I usually go on to G.R. but never seem to find anything, but fortunately this time I lucked out and found Frances' grandson who has responded to my posting. So here's hoping i can get some of the blanks filled in.
