I have SR Death Search return and in the space for mother's surname it says not permitted, does anyone know why this is, could it be that the deaths are time sensitive?

Hi Granny,
That will be from the modern day indexes, for deaths within the last 50 years. If you know what that surname should be and you input it in the search form, if it is an exact match for what is in the index then the name will show in the results returned. No wildcards allowed in the mother's maiden surname field within that time period. If a name put in that field is not an exact match, then the result will not be found at all.
