no images in familysearch

Post by annpa » Sun Jul 20, 2008 6:07 pm

Why am I getting no images in Familysearch, when I click one of the results of a search. It's never happened before to me. I'm puzzled.
cheers

Hi Annpa

Which part of Familysearch are you working in?

If there is a part which displays images, I've not used that bit. In Familysearch I only ever use the IGI section and a few other bits such as the 1881 English census search and Ancestral File, and very occaisionally the US Social Security listings - none of these areas have images.

Best wishes

Are you perhaps meaning ScotlandsPeople?
And are you perhaps searching beyond the cut off dates for images?

Hi Annpa,

I believe the only images you can view on Family Search are those that are part of the Pilot Site but not on the normal site we all are so used to.

You won't find anything for Scotland but the 1841 and 1861 censuses for England and Wales are in the pilot site, unfortunately, you won't see the image of those census records, instead you are referred to Find My Past.

I'll leave you to check all the other goodies they have with images that you can see! :)

Regards,
Anne H

Sorry - confusion!! wrong terminology!!

When I do a search on the IGI and click on one of the results in the long lists i should get a transcription of a birth, marriage, census etc. I am getting nothing. I click on the required name and nothing happens.
HELP!!

Hi Annpa
It's working OK for me, so not sure what is causing the problem at your end. They've just been updating the site, so if you try again, it might just work OK now. Let us know how you get on.

Best wishes

Hi Annpa

This happenned to me but I think it's that when you scroll down a long list of names and then click on, the information you want is at the top of the page. Scroll back up and the information's there.

They seem to have changed the way the pages work when you go back from looking at an entry to the list. It used to be that when you clicked back you saw the list at the point you had left it, now you go back to the top of the page. When you want to go on to a 2nd page of records it brings you in at the bottom of the page instead of the top. Let's hope it's teething problems!

Hi annpa,
This sometimes happens to me,too.
Just click on the back button and try and open up the one you want again. If it doesn't, try another one and come back to the one you want again.

Good luck

It's working now, though it wasn't for several days. I've not done anything different, so it must just have been a glitch or overuse!
Thanks for all your suggestions.
