Hullo Darren

There are at least three graveyards for Shotts, Kirk o'Shotts, Benhar and Stane. Information, such as lair records is kept at

Bellshill Cemeteries Office
Old Edinburgh Road
BELLSHILL
Lanarkshire
M 3JSL

Tel 01 698 506 301

When I visited there the staff were very helpful. It seems they are also willing to do lookups, if you can furnish enough information.

Best wishes for your research.

Hi Darren,
  • North Lanarkshire Council
    Cemeteries Administration Office
    Old Edinburgh Road
    Bellshill
    ML4 3JS

    Tel: 01698 506 301
    Fax: 01698 506 309
According to the informatikon I can find, this office is at Bothwellpark Cemetery, Bellshill.

See also http://www.ancestralscotland.com/counti ... on=burials for more information.

It must have been the old days when I looked at the records for burials at Kirk o' Shotts - they were kept at Coatbrige then. I have also seen some Kirk o' Shotts Cemetery lair books in the Local Studies Library at Motherwell Heritage Centre a few years back. All the best,

Andrew Paterson

I believe that Lanarkshire Family History Society are 'knee-deep' in a project to photograph all the stones in the Churchyards (and Cemeteries).

Have a look here: http://www.lanarkshirefhs.org.uk/
