Hi All,
I have seen a few records on a basic search of Ancestry that I want to look at, I am not a member and thought a pay per view would be better as I dont have many people that ventured out of Scotland, but when I went to buy this, it said I had to fill out details for my membership? which I dont want, has anyone done a search this way? Is it fairly straightforward?
Thanks
Ann

Hi Ann,
I've used their pay-per-view membership a couple of times - I only venture into the English and Welsh records occasionally, but wanted to search the military records for specific individuals and impatience got the better of me - they sometimes do freebies and I save up my searches for these
I think I had to put in some information at the start when I took out my first PPV membership, but haven't had any problems. My latest one was only taken out on Sunday and I think it states on the purchase page that's it's not recurrent.
I haven't been bombarded with emails from them either - just one to confirm my membership, one to confirm that it's ended and an occasional newsletter-y type thing that I think I actually said was OK to send me.
I think the issues is that PPV is classed as a 'membership' rather than a purchase of credits, so they ask for some of the same information.
Best wishes
Brian

Hi All
Sometimes you have to be careful of Ancestry. I took one of their freebies over a year ago. What I didn't know was that I somehow got a year's subscription to the U.S. version. Stupid me, didn't check out my credit card bill for that month.
I had that subscription for over six months before I realized that I had it.
Regards
