I've just come across this site and couldn't find any reference to it on here.

That's brilliant. I tapped in the name of an ancestor whom I've lost between 1851 and 1861, just in case he'd died in the mine. He didn't come up (though I did get somebody with the same name) but I'll investigate various other mining ancestors. Ta.

Thanks for the link, I found the death of an ancestor whos death certifcate stated he had died after a "load of coal" fell on him, age 23.

The link gave me the name of the mine and the owners name,plus the info on his death certificate, great-thanks.
