Hello
I wonder if some one can help me locate William Wright who married Eliza Hendry there son son John was born abt 1883 he married a Jane Rodgers 1907 he was 24 .

Hi Jean,
By "locate" you mean that you haven't found him with the family in any of the censuses? Was he alive at the time of John's marriage?
Any idea where in Scotland (or elsewhere) they might be?

They were both alive in 1907 living at Clyde Street Partick.
but i could not find anything .

Hello Jean,

There is a very good chance your couple William Wright, and Eliza Hendry, were Irish, and thats where they got married, this is a shot in the dark.

1881 census 166 Castlebank, Street, Govan, Lanark.

William Wright, Head, Hole Driller, M. age 27 years M. born Ireland,
Eliza Ann Wright, Wife, Seamstress, M. age 24 years, F. born Ireland,
William Wright, Son, age 4 years, born Ireland,
David Wright, Son, age 2 years, M. born Ireland,
David Wright, Relative, House Joiner, M. age 24 years, M. born Ireland.

The interesting point here is there is a birth on the IGI. For a David Wright, 04/May1879. Coleraine, Londonderry, to parents William Moore Wright, and Eliza Ann Wright Henry.

This could be them on Jane Rodgers and John Wright wedding certificate
John is a fitters helper his dad an Iron Driller

Hello Jean,

Yes i think that is your couple, what you need now is to find them in the 1891. census with young John, with them to confirm their places of birth.

I think they are living in Partrick, Glasgow, in 1891, i am sure some of the kind patrons on here with Ancestry Conscriptions, will do a look up for you.

I also think young John Wright was born in Partick, Glasgow, but there are quite a few births for John Wrights, in the period 1882/84. there are four in Partick, in that timeframe, finding the correct one could cost a few credits on Scotlandspeople.

Yes, John is there all right in 1891. They are at 3 Francis St, Tradeston, Glasgow Govan. William is a dock labourer. You have the right family

Many apologies

I was in a hurry when I did that last lookup and gave you the info for another family of William and Eliza Wright with a son John...

The family that Jonn found is still at 166 Castlebank St, Partick in 1891 and they, also have a son John. In 1901 they are at 33 Crawford St, Partick, and the places of birth for the parents and two of the children is given in the Ancestry transcription as "Ireland, CO Deny". I assume this means CO Derry. Sorry for the mixup-- I really shouldn't post when I am in a hurry!
