Hi Lesley:

Just had a look and to my amazement just found that Jamaica, Mexico and Puerto Rico have moved to NORTH AMERICA!

So much for the education my parents paid for!

Off to have a look at the databases now

I keep getting American places.
I was trying to look up 14 Cross Shore Street, Greenock 1936 and 6 Watt Street,Greenock 1937-8.
Can someone who knows what they're doing look these up for me PLEASE, I haven't a clue what I'm doing.
Thank

You are very limited as to what you can view if you dont give your card details over for your free trial.
On that basis it is not one i will be looking at.
Scotland - Donaldson / Moggach / Shaw / Geddes / Sim / Gray / Mackie / Richards / Joel / Coull / Mckimmie / Panton / McGregor
Ireland and Scotland - Casey / McDade / Phillips / McCandle / Dinely / Comaskey + various spellings

I just did a search for my Clerihews and didn't see much available that I don't already have access to with my Ancestry subscription. There's a whole lot missing that is on Ancestry. Also, if so many of their databases are FREE, why would you pay them anything? A little looking around will get you all the free stuff anyway.

Carol :D
Looking for: Clerihew, Longmuir/Longmore, Chalmers, Milne, Barclay in Newhills,
Munro, Cadenhead, Raitt, Ririe/Reary

Hi Frances,

I got my education in Montreal. They always put Mexico , Cuba and Puerto Rico in North America. :D Jamaica was never mentioned. Too Small? Or Central America? I think that some put Central America in North America. Not sure where the dividing line is there.

Sheila

Hi Tracey it is a FREE trial no credit card required for that part ...only if you want to get access to the rest then you pay
and the free trial is only for the USA databases

BUT a couple of Queensland voters rolls are free just now because they are new this was the main reason I posted the link as not everyone has Ancestry which has got the Aussie voters rolls BUT NOT THE 1946 ones which are free to view

Sandra re your Greenock folk ask at the Watt Library in Greenock they are really helpful I sent you the email addy they may take a bit to get back to you ....other than that The National Library of Scotland in Edinburgh are also very helpful

I am only getting access to about 6 options which are not really what i would look at anyway. If i want to view certain things it is asking me for card details even though it is acknowledging that i have a "free trial account" - or words to that effect :?
But i m sure i will cope without it

Hi Tracey that's because they have it set that other things pop up just to tempt you  I tried it and it had nothing that I was after but it may be useful to someone out there
thing is you have to read all the info first as it does say that only the USA database is in the free trial
its run by someone who was involved with Ancestry I can see the future that one company will have so much data and then another couple the rest like pay tv who never seem to have all the channels you like on the one plan
warm regards lesley
