HeritageQuestOnline

Hi all,

Has anyone used HeritageQuestOnline? You access it through your local library. They subscribe, you go online at home with your library card number. Looks like it is US Census records from 1750-1930 plus some other records and it is free.

My cousin just joined his local library and it offers this service to patrons. Don't know if it is only US or is available world wide. Could be a real help if you don't have a paid sub to Ancestry.

Google Heritage Quest to get to their home page and info.

Yes, I use it. My local library has a subscription and I can access it from home using my library card number. For some reason, I have to turn my firewall off to use it though.

It's great now that my Ancestry subscripton expired, but even when I did have Ancestry, I still liked to use HeritageQuest when I couldn't find someone due to a bad transcription.

Searching is more limited on HeritageQuest - you can't use wildcards and not all the census's are on there. I think they only have 1930 census for a couple of States.

It's also worth using the book search. It has some online books too - I've found useful county histories, directories etc.
