19C British Library Newspapers – Home access for Aberdeen

19C British Library Newspapers – Online home access for Aberdeen.

Special Message from Aberdeen City Council library.
http://www.aberdeencity.gov.uk/Librarie ... y_Home.asp

"The 19th Century British Library Newspapers collection is a new database which has been introduced online this month. The database contains full runs of 48 newspapers of the period including The Aberdeen Journal and the Dundee Courier.

With a valid Aberdeen City Library card you can access this database from home or elsewhere via the Internet."

Application for a library card can be made at the library and proof of Aberdeen residence is required.

I think that previously this was only available within the library, and only Part One.

Great news for Aberdeen,
Alan

DUNDEE City Library also has the 19C British Library Newspapers. They also have Part 1 and Part 2. http://www.dundeecity.gov.uk/library/onlinedatabases

Anyone who lives, works or studies in the city can join the library.

It sounds like they are accessible from home as well as in the library. Does anyone know for sure?

Hmm I wonder if that also includes Aberdeenshire as well as the city.

Hello Andy.

Unfortunately it looks to me as if the two Scottish ones are City Council areas only.

Aberdeenshire Council only has the databases listed on this page http://www.aberdeenshire.gov.uk/librari ... reference/ House of Commons Parliamentary Papers can be very useful but there’s no access from home.

No luck with Angus either. http://library.angus.gov.uk/ipac20/ipac ... true#focus
