Closure of West Register House search room

NAS have announced that the search room in West Register House (Charlotte Square, Edinburgh) will be closed from 25 February 2011. The search facilities there will transfer to General Register House (Princes Street, Edinburgh).

The one exception is that if you need to see the originals of some of the plans you will have to go to the NAS storage facility at Thomas Thomson House (Sighthill Industrial Estate, Edinburgh) to eliminate the risk of damage of these in transit. Note: the facility at Thomas Thomson House will be by appointment only, and will not be available until later in Spring 2011.

Dash it!! I can't be "the wicked witch of the west" any more!!!

I do hope this does not mean redundancies for Ruth and the rest of the staff who worked at the west. I always kinda liked the west too...
