Re: Railways Archives
Thanks Maureen,
That looks interesting, although I haven’t quite figured out yet how useful. I’ve included it in my bookmarks and will check it out next time I get to look into a railway accident. Accidents seem to have been very popular in the early days of rail.
All the best,
Alan

Re: Railways Archives
Hi Alan and Maureen,
I also note that, although the drop-down menu lets you choose dates back to 1803, there are actually no accidents in the database until March of 1828.
Regards,
Sarah

Re: Railways Archives
Maureen. Thanks for the thought. Alan did find my answer as you would have seen & it seems my ancestors were not very good near trains, 3 of them were killed by trains, the one Alan found, another on in Scotland decided to get of the train after it moved off and he fell down onto the track (I think Alan found this one to) and another one killed in the USA when she walked across a train track with the train coming.
Oh dear.

Re: Railways Archives
Trish like you I have a few killed on the Railways including two brothers-one fell between the wheels whilst working & the other felled by the jib of a crane whilst working on a Railway Bridge. There's another who was crushed between two carriages & my GGGGreat Grandfather was killed at a Pit when a train engine passed over his person.
My youngest brother works for Scotrail so I'm always telling him to be VERY VERY careful.
