Hi Jim,

You might be aware that there is a Storie Street in Paisley town centre, presumably with some family connection to Capt. Storie.

Have you tried the Local Studies folk at Paisley Library? They may be able to help or point you in the right direction. You can contact them by email via the 'Contact Us' section at the bottom of this link http://www.renfrewshire.gov.uk/webconte ... llections/

Best wishes

This site http://www.durtnall.org.uk/DEEDS/Scotland%20201-302.htm lists a transcription of a deed of sasine (land transfer) dated 10th October 1786 which had been for sale on ebay
PAISLEY: An instrument of seisine for lands in Paisley, Renfrewshire, between Captain John Storie and Elizabeth Ross Countess of Glasgow. Dated 10 October 1786 in the 26th year of the reign of George III Property: Six acres of lands of Crossbarr that was possessed by William King near the barn running from Lounds Dale to Breadiland, lying within the parish of Paisley. Medium: Handwritten in English on vellum. Condition: Staining, creasing and dirt marks. Characteristics: Signatures. Revenue and tax stamps. Document Size (Approx.): 36 by 47 cm
Storie itself is a name which crops up several times in the history of Paisley e.g there was also a John Storie magistrate who in the 1800's was part of the committee which oversaw the creation of a new monument to the Paisley Martyrs.
