Old Parochial Register .....

Post by phend » Thu Mar 09, 2006 4:17 am

Hello. I wonder if anyone can assist me. I have a record of an ancestor whose marriage was recorded on an Old Parochial Register in 1786. Is there any way to be sure which Church the bride and groom belonged to? I assume it was a Protestant church but is there any way to determine whether it was Church of Scotland or another sect?

Thanks.....

Unless it says otherwise in the entry it's extremely likely, as in 99.99%+, to involve membership of the Established Church of Scotland (The Auld Kirk).
