Hi Thomsos
LDS which are not extracts from the original document films are only as reliable as the skills of the submitter/researcher allow them to be.
Some are brilliant, accurate and thoroughly researched. Others are at best guesstimates based on calculating wedding dates by a childs date of birth without actually checking whether the child was the first of ten or the last of ten children.
I have used them as a guide to follow a line of enquiry but not accepted them as proof of anything.
I'm not knocking them merely stating that in my family lines they have helped but not been accurate enough to make me believe in them as sources.

The info is as reliable as the person compiling the info made it.
The info should be treated with caution & I speak as one who has contributed to the files.
Sometimes you submit in good faith the info that you have & it is only on later investigation you discover that the info is A.Incomplete
B-Slighty wrong-i.e dates/locations slighty out
C-Complete fabrication & wishful thinking on the part of your informant.
They do have some good solid info on them but a lot may not be verifriable but true & some "oral" histroy e.g I know my GGgrandfather was born, approx when & where but I cannot find any proof of his birth nor his parents names but I know he exsisted-do I put down what I have or leave it out?
Treat with caution but you may get some really good info.
