Look Ups .....

Post by Miss Poohs » Tue Jul 11, 2006 10:58 pm

Managed to get a cancellation for tomorrow, for Park Circus :D .

Anyone want me to have a look for anything?

Sorry it's so late in the evening to ask you all, but it ain't easy entertaining an 8yr old during the summer holidays - dads on duty tomorrow :D.

I'll check in the morning before I leave - probably around about 8.15am.

Hi Janice,

What a great offer, thankyou.

I was wondering if you could check if there is anything on poor relief for Port Glasgow/Greenock.

The names I am interested in are Edward McNeil & spouse Martha Graham, born Ireland, first sighting I have of them is in 1881 census, address 12 Springkell Street Greenock.

Thanks again.

Hi Miss Poohs,

What a kind gesture! I don't know if you are able to look at RCE's at Park Circus, but if you can, I would love to know about two that I have.

The first is a very curious death for Mary Carson, married to John Carson, died July 17 1911 in Irvine, Ayr. The RCE is noted as "Result of precognition, RCE Vol. 3, p 214, dated August 2nd 1911". She died of strangulation suddenly. Very curious! I can't find a reference to the precognition at NAS.

The second is a RCE on a bigamous marriage for a Mary Hyslop Carson to Andrew Fleming on 10 August 1905 in Blythswood, Glasgow (not the same Mary). The RCE is noted as "Bigamy. RCE Vol. 10 p. 2, dated September 26 1905." I want to make sure it was Mary who committed the bigamy, as she was first married to a Charles Edward Kidd.

Thanks again, Nina
Researching: Easton ( Renfrewshire, Dunbarton and Glasgow), Corr (Londonderry and Glasgow), Carson (Co. Down, Irvine, Ayrshire and Glasgow), Logan (Londonderry and Glasgow)

No problem - I've printed you both off to take with me :)

Nina - I know you can look up RCEs for the Glasgow area in PC, but no other county. I had an uncle who committed suicide in Clacks and I wanted to see the RCE on his death cert, but was told I'd need to go to Clacks for it.

I will check though, these things may have changed since my last visit.

I'll report back later hopefully with a successful mission

Hi Carmentea32

Our "Sources" tab at the top of the page has a lot of links to places made reference to on TS which may come in handy for you.

The link anyway to "Sources" on which there is a link to Park Circus.

Hi Miss Poohs - hope you had a successful trip. Re your uncle - would the RCE not be at NRH? I'm going there at the end of the week, if you want to let me have the name & reference details I'll have a look for you. You need to get back to me tonight though, as I'm off to Scotland early tomorrow.

Best wishes.

Aww thanks for that Pinkie - would you believe I can't find the flamin' cert  .

His name was William McEwan, he died 26-28 Jan 1934.

Don't worry if you don't have time to trawl the records for me - I need to get what I have in order!!!
