Thanks so much for that Pandabean. I really must explore family search more than I have done. I didn't have a clue that those records were on there.
Thanks again

I've now got the vault reference numbers - does that mean I can order the film? Can you give me an idiots guide as to what I can do with the information on this part of the LDS site.
Thank you!

I have just been on the phone to my local LDS centre and they said they can order the film in for a cost of about £2 and 50p postage.
I am going along to the LDS tomorrow and arranging for some to be brought up.
What it is is the microfilm. They get that in and you can look at it but I dont think they do copies/scans of the image which is a shame.
The only thing I will be missing is a photo for my Great great uncle William Greenlees. Checked the local papers and only found notices but the one I did get was amazing.
Anyways, I got the information from another FHS website forum. Hope it is of use.

I've looked at the Evening Times Roll of Honour for my great uncle and found nothing, the only thing I have is his date of birth and a family photo in which he is wearing a uniform and then nothing. Keep us posted as I am interested in what information the film might hold.
Thanks,

Hi Pandabean
Best wishes
Lesley
Most LDS centres have a special microfilm film reader from which you can print copies of particular pages. Ask at your local centre when you go to look at your film. Hope it contains what you are looking for! What it is is the microfilm. They get that in and you can look at it but I dont think they do copies/scans of the image which is a shame.
Best wishes

I will be there too in about two weeks.I didn't know they had this resource.
I have my Grandpa's service record but would be interested to see if their's was destroyed.I
Does anybody know -if there copy is missing would they be interested in a copy from me?
Also his card does not cover his service in the Boer War/South African Police post Boer-where would that record be?
As to photos I cried my eyes out when the Archivist produced a photo of my Great-Uncle Thomas from his obituary notice in The Clydebank Post-I had never seen one before & he looks just like my nephew Ross.

Hi all,
Just wanted to let you know that I looked at the film a few weeks ago and i didnt find what I was looking for. The unburnt records are in good condition (based on what I saw on my film). The only problem was that if what i was looking was there they wouldn't have been able to print it off for me as it is too expensive to do that.
I recommend that you go to your local LDS family history centre and look at these if you are unable to manage to get down to London to visit Kew. They however take a couple months to order in.
