Hi all
Will be at the next PBFA in Bath.
http://www.pbfa.org/fairfiles/BATH.htm
Never been in the toon afore so wid appreciate oany o the locals advice on guid restaurants tae nosh in..
The last one, in York, was not well attended, and the punters are getting fewer with each fair.
This unfortunately leads to less dealers showing up anaw.
There are only two Scottish exhibitors this time round.
George, frae Helensburgh will be there, he ay has a guid wee display, especially if yer intae sailing.
Ah bote (that is different frae boat) the Twelfth Decennial Census Report , 1911, vol I, part 2 City of Glasgow, aff him last year..

Hi Davie,
Although I don't know Bath well enough to recommend any decent eating places, I have wandered around the place a few times. It's close to Bristol and is a very pretty place. Had to laugh at the organiser saying parking included "on street". It's probably one of the most difficult places to find such a parking spot and it is quite expensive. I always use the Charlotte Street car park.
Unless something else comes up in the meantime, (i.e. ma waens bookin me for house/cat sittin
), I might take a wee wander through to the fair.

Re: eating out in Bath
Hello Davie,
I know Bath well from 10 years living in Devizes, but we left in 1999 and things change. However, these two restaurants served excellent food then and appear to be still in business:
Sukhothai in Walcot Street;
Mai Thai in Pierrepont Street.
Both are reasonably central.
There is also a very good Chinese restuarant but the name escapes me. It was run by the same family that ran the excellent Peking Palace in Devizes, and their daughter Wei-Wei went to school with my eldest. I shall interrogate my family to see if they remember anything.
A visit to Sally Lunn's tea rooms and museum (York Street) was almost compulsory for tourists.
Parking used to be a nightmare, and the parking scheme even more so. They sold vouchers in many outlets, and you had to put the appropriate number of vouchers in the window to cover your expected stay. The vouchers were printed with days, hours, and blocks of 5 minutes arranged as spokes of circles, and these had to be punched through. These vouchers were folded at the top and trapped by the car window. It was hard enough trying to remember which day it was, never mind trying to trap these things in a car window so that they were displayed correctly.
They have park-and-ride schemes though.
Regards,
John

There is also a Loch Fyne restaurant, if you want a taste of home:
24 Milsom Street
Bath
BA1 1DG
Tel: 01225 750120
Fax: 01225 750121
E-Mail: Bath@lochfyne.net
Milson Street is an uphill street coming out of the very centre of Bath. The Restaurant is at the top. not too far to walk, and depending on where you are staying, it should be downhill all the way back!
Cheers
