Just saying hello!

Post by Peter Buckingham » Thu Feb 08, 2007 1:00 pm

Hello to all from a very snowy Kent,
Learned of your site this morning and registered straight away - #1938.
Just wanted to say hello.
I have been conducting family searches since Jan 06 but it wasnt until last March that I discovered my lineage to Scottish roots in the Jopp family of Aberdeen - a hitherto unknown line that was eventually proved by the discovery of an ancestor's 1795 will in Jamaica.
Not only have I got Scottish roots, but amazingly have a g/g/g/g/gmother who was a 'free quadroon woman'. The illegitimacy line had been hidden from the Jopp family records.
I am now beginning to look at the Gibb and Goodfellow families in Kirkbean and Dumfries areas. Mary Anne Gibb married my g/g/g/gfather James Jopp in 1826.
Any way, as I said, just saying hello - seems a great site.

Hello Peter

A very warm welcome from the warm(er) North to the snowy South. Hope you have a very productive time among your Scottish Ancestors. Some of the Old Parish Records for Aberdeen are very informative.
