Edinburgh University Records

Hi all,

Sorry if everyone already knows this but I didn't, so maybe it will help others. I was watching "Who Do You Think You Are" today (we are way behind the UK) and it was mentioned that Edinburgh University Library holds the academic records for all students from I think they said 1830's but it could have been 1850's.

The lady was Moira Stewart and she was looking at her grandparents' academic records; her grandfather graduated, her grandmother didn't finish, but they still had the records which mentioned which subjects they took and whether they passed or failed. Also it seemed to have their place of birth and parent's details.

It also looked like you might have to purchase them...

Mine were all too poor for university studies. Anyway, it might be useful information for someone.

I didn't know that. Very interesting. Like you, I don't think any of my rellies made it to university.

I wonder if my own university records will be available to my descendants in a hundred and fifty years? :)
