An Interesting On-Line Book as it is being written.

Post by Bob C » Wed Apr 25, 2007 10:31 pm

I have found an interesting on-line book that is being written that contains a genealogy thread, It is up to 80 chapters (all short and an easy read) and I have spent many hours trying to read the whole thing!

Enjoy!!

Thank you for noticing Harry McFry Investigates - there was a huge increase in traffic to the site as a result of your mention (the most readers in one day since I started writing!) :D

Your comments are very kind - but please feel free to offer any criticisms along the way (either here or via the blog comment feature). I have reasonably broad shoulders and love to receive constructive criticism, as it helps improve the story as it unfolds.

Thanks again for highlighting it.

Kind Regards

Hello and welcome to Talking Scot! :D With a character named McFry, it wouldn't be a surprise if you found some use for the expertise on this board  Any real-life genealogy mysteries will be pounced upon and quickly dealt with to the best of our abilities... In the meantime, thanks for the entertainment! I'm glad you noticed our visits :D
All the best,
Sarah

I’ve been utterly enthralled with the tale of the Lost Family. What is the on-line version of “I can’t put this down”? :D

I’ve been quite lucky in work today in that I’ve been monitoring stuff rather than doing stuff, and as long as I’m discrete I can use t’internet so I’ve spent the day monitoring and reading and monitoring and so on.

Hopefully I can monitor/read some more tomorrow from Chapter 54……..all the way up to Chapter 80………I hope.

I thought it was really quite weird to read about Guernica on the actual 70th anniversary of that dreadful day.

Once I’ve got up to date with the on going tale, I’ll make some comments on the style and technique of the production (probably on the Harry McFly blog page)

Great stuff, to be thoroughly recommended.

Thanks Mr Hamburger (Jnr)

PS I’m not sure if I can see our resident expert David Webster in the role of Harry.
I'd like to be apathetic but I really can't be bothered.

Looking for blacksheep & not finding any with

wow Bob thanks for the link and thanks Mr Hamburger for writing it.
Needless to say the ironing did not get done today ... Can't wait for the next installment.

I'm wondering if some of my missing relatives were also "Garbutted" ? :)

Sorry about the ironing, Sally! Wish I had put a disclaimer in somewhere, now!

I've had a difficult week, writing-wise, but the thought of all these new readers from Talking Scotland has made me realise I had better get cracking with the next chapter!

Hopefully there'll be an update soon.

Kind Regards

PS

I suppose I had better apologise that Harry hasn't (yet) found any Scots ancestry. It can only be a matter of time! :)

Just by way of an update, I thought I'd let Talking Scots members know that the Harry McFry story is rattling towards its conclusion.

It's been great to watch readers who have been referred to Harry via this site, over the last 4 months or so.

I never for a minute imagined Harry McFry would grow to 100,000 + words and (at the moment!) 117 chapters.

For those who might be new to TS, and haven't yet dropped by to read the story, there is a brief synopsis here.

Kind Regards
