Hi Mossiepossie
Welcome to TalkingScot although I am not sure we can help you with your first post.
We deal in ancestors rather than folks who may still be living. We have found it wisest to stick with generations who have already passed beyond this mortal coil.
One way to find out about this generation is to look at postal directories and Valuation Rolls. These are useful if you have some idea of where they were at a given time.
If you have not got that sort of information you would need to go, in person, to GRO in Edinburgh and look through their records there. (If they were in the West of Scotland, the same records would be open to you at Park Circus.

Hi Mossiepossie:
Could Francis have been a second name? With a few generations living in one house, some commonly used a second name to distinguish one from the other.
There are 2 Kenny, Fr* married 1905-1910. One is Frederick and the other does not respond to Francis/Frances.
There is one registration for Kenny marries M*le*an between 1905-10, but again not the correct first names.
Is it possible, that they could have had an "irregular marriage"?
There is more info and discussion by clicking on these links.

Hi mossiepossie
I see what you mean about no Marriage entry on scotlandspeople.
I tried just about every variant and wildcard I could think of with no joy.
I even tried Kenny as variants of McKenny/ie/McKinnie/Kinney and nothing turned up.
Possibilities
1. They didn't get married in Ross and Cromarty but somewhere else.
2. They did but have been mis-transcribed.
3. They didn't get married (officially)
I looked for an Ann Jane McLennan being born somewhere 'all parishes' in Ross & Cromarty between 1870 and 1885 as likely dates. There were 60 Ann McLennans in that time but no Ann(e) Jane/Jean/Janets.
Using the same dates there were no birth entries for a Francis Kenny at all. So I wonder where he came from.
His name did not turn up on the 1901 census either. If he was from that area he would have appeared with his parents or working away from home staying in lodgings which would have given us a clue where he was from.
If you have information in the form of certificates from the next generation they might give a clue as to where to look next.
Things like addresses; name of a person notifying a Death. Any tiny hint might help.

Hi MossiePossie
As Russell says, they may have married elsewhere - I wonder if they married in England :
A search on www.freebmd.org.uk gives a possible result :
Surname First name(s) District Vol Page
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Marriages Mar 1911
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bullarde Lilliane A J Marylebone 1a 948
Kenny Francis Marylebone 1a 948
Magdika Julius Marylebone 1a 948
McLennan Ann J Marylebone 1a 948
Since there are 2 marriages per registration, this only tells you that a Francis Kenny married either an Ann J McLennan or a Lilliane Bullarde, but I am hopeful that it is the former.
Hope theis helps

Well found Sally
That must have taken some digging.
Even the spelling of the names fits perfectly.
I would say go for it mossiepossie.

Re: brick wall
You won't find your dad's birth on SP as they stop at 1906 due to closure.mossiepossie wrote:hi grannyrock, you were spot on with your find. that was my grandparents you found also found that my dad's sister was born down there too but no mention of my dad which i find very strange. has anybody any suggestions. his name was hugh albert mclennan kenny born march 1910
As you live in Glasgow your best bet would be to visit Park Circus Family History Centre. If your dad was born in Scotland you will be able to view his birth details there. It costs £14 for the day and you can access as many records as you like right up until the present. That way you will be able to do forward searches and find descendants too.
Another thought is, if Annie and Frank were not married till after the birth of your dad perhaps he was registered under his mother's name.
Kind regards,
Annette M
