Scotsman digital archive problem

Post by rossi123 » Sat Jun 30, 2007 3:04 pm

Hi all,
Has anyone ever had a problem with the Scotsman digital archive site, whenever i go to get a price it comes up with an error message. I have notified the site on numerous occasions but they don't seem to be doing anything. It's been happening for around a year now.
At first i thought it was my computer but i tried it on my PC at work and on my laptop but the same thing keeps happening. There is alot of results when i search on my surname but unfortunately i can't in to pay to see them.
Anyone else had this?

Sorry not sure about your problem.

Just wondering does anyone know if there are intentions of releasing more recent newspaper articles?

Haven't heard about more images being released, though had heard somewhere some talk of the images being rescanned due to their poor resolution just now. Not sure how true that might be, but if so, I suppose they may also try to update the stuff already released.

Rossi - yes I've had a similar problem. The only way round it I found was to buy my credit first and then search straight away. Haven't done it for ages so I forget the detail but that much I remember.

Hi tishgibbons
Just tried what you said, getting credits first, but its still the same, when i click on the 24 hr session for £7.95 it still comes up with an error message.

Sorry Dawn! I hope they get back to you soon or you'll have wasted that credit - and at my suggestion! All I can say is that it worked for me. I hope you get sorted.

Hi Dawn
if I go to the Scotsman site and click on the link for the 24hr pass, the log in page displays, after I log in then I'm able to confirm that it is the £7.95 tariff, then it takes me to a Terms & Conditions page - and from there I could click on a link to complete the purchase - that works fine too (apart from the fact that I have not informed them of the new date on my credit card so they can't charge me!! Which is just as well - you should have seen the look on my face when I thought I'd spent £7.95 on a wee experiment  ). Phew....
Seems to be working Ok for me.

Best wishes
Lesley
