Family Tree Excel Sheets

Post by Pandabean » Wed Aug 01, 2007 4:17 pm

Hi,

Sorry for my absence lately, just busy moving into a new place and getting settled into a new job.

What I am wanting to ask is regarding the spreadsheets I made up a good few moths back. I am wanting to try and redo them over the next few weeks.

Is there anything that you would perhaps like to see added to them or improved on them?

Basically its an excuse to play around with excel and also help out people who don't really have much of a software program to see their tree.

So feel free to comment,

:D

Sorry I didnt get back to you

I will try and unprotect it in the next version. How has it been with using it?

I am not sure how easy it is to transfer data from one version to another.

I was also thinking of expanding the number of people per sheet but the user will have to print to fit one sheet. Do many people have access to A3 printers these days?

Hi

Is there a link to these excel spread sheets so that I can see them?

Also I don't know about other people but I definitely don't have access to an A3 printer, though it would be useful.

Many thanks

Hi Claudette
A link to the Excel sheets for an individual person can be found in the FAQ area of the forum:
http://talkingscot.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5661
With the rest of the Excel sheets explained here & with a link to the sheets themselves:

Best wishes
Lesley

Just to let you know I have added in extra sheets for research relating to soldiers and the Family Summary is changing slightly.

Is there anything you would like to see included in the updated one?

The A3 printer option might be a problem I was just thinking of a way to get more on a sheet of paper. The only one that comes to mind is the "Fit to 1 page option"

Hi

They look really good and I will be using them if that's ok when I have a trip to Edinburgh in October to go searching through all the OPRs - they will be very handy for recording any info I might happen to find.

I wondered if on the certificates sheet a tick box for having a will/testament would be useful - could put in a tick, cross or N/A.

Does anyone know either any good software or failing that any links to help me create a drop-line family tree - I think that's what they're called - so that I can produce a family tree which includes all siblings in all the families over all the generations. Do you understand what I mean?

I know I don't have an A3 printer but presumably I could save it to CD and get someone else to print it for me? I know what I want to be able to do, but I'm not very technical when it comes to computers.

Many thanks for all your help
Claudette

Hey all,

Finally got an internet connection in my new place. I can now spend more time doing the family tree, work permitting that is. i have progressed with the sheets I have made by adding extras in them. Probably have them finished in a few weeks.

I would add a census one but I have noticed there is a really good one already out there. Can't remember where but I do have a copy that I use for my census sheets.

Just thought I would give you a quick update.
