NEVER HEARD OF THIS ONE

Post by wini » Sun Aug 19, 2007 9:02 am

I eventually found time to have a look at the Glasgow Kirks website posted by Anne.
Came across this name

ELFLEDACUARIA
daughter of John Stewart the minister at Bridgegate, 27 Commercial Road from 1882-1931 this was the name in the Fasti Vol 3

By the 8th vol her name had changed slightly to
ELFLEDMACUARIA

I don't know which is the worst. Hope there is no one out there with the same name who might take offence

Glasgow, Durness,Kilmuir via Uig, Logie Easter

Jings wini,

Can you imagine the amount of mistranscriptions for her??

I've never heard of a name anything remotely like that - I wonder where it came from. I think it would definately qualify for a 'Cencus Whack!'

 I doubt that, Wini! A Google on the name gives only the one hit from the Kirks site :D Of course, in a few days it will bring up this post also  Surely they called her something shorter
