Restricted access to records which were previously open

Post by Archiver » Tue Aug 21, 2007 8:27 pm

Sorry about the long thread title, but I was wondering if anyone has been refused access to records in an archive which were previously available for viewing?

I'm doing a sort of study into access and wondered if this had happened to anyone and if so, what sort of records were they, date period, and whatnot.

I hope the answer is a resounding no, but I won't know until I ask!

Thanks in advance.

Hi Archiver!
Are you referring to archives in the UK, or in Scotland, or anywhere in the world? I have a feeling I have run into this in the U.S., when states made new rules about access to records.
All the best,
Sarah
